2025 Competition Entry Form

Many of you may not be aware, but Steve Wilson has stepped down as the Yorkshire Men's Competition Secretary and I have the honour of taking on this role from 2025 onwards.  Stuart Forrest has also stepped down from the Zone 1 role and so the County has taken the decision to run all four zones through me from 2025 onwards.  I would like to express my thanks to Steve and Stuart for their years of service, their dedication and their commitment to Yorkshire bowls; without them we would not have the robust competition structure we have now.

There are some changes for 2025 that have come to us through Bowls England.  Firstly, from a cost point of view, Bowls England have increased the cost of each individual entry for any competition that qualifies for Leamington.  This has resulted in the entry fee rising to £5.00. Any entries that are for competitions solely within the county will be £4.00.  Secondly, the age limit for junior competitions has changed to Under 24 on 1st April 2025.  There is also a new Under 17 singles competition.

I hope the entry form is self explanatory.  It is important that we encourage as many people as possible to enter our County competitions as this brings greater levels of participation at a high level and also keeps Yorkshire in the top counties in England for entries.  Currently we sit just above the limit that allows us two entries per discipline at Leamington.  Any fall in numbers could put this in jeopardy.

I am happy to receive entries individually, but note that the entry will not become official until the money and the form have been submitted.

The deadline for entries is February 1st 2025 which then gives me time to submit the entries to Bowls England before their deadline.  The Zone draws will take place in early March and I am hopeful, technology permitting, that we may be able to stream this as a live event.

I am indebted to Alan Smith who will run the County Over 65 pairs and fours in 2025.  I will take the entries, but Alan will be the point of contact with regards to running the events.  Any queries regarding these two events should go directly to Alan.

Finally, I can confirm that we will have Singles, Pairs, Triples & Fours Quarter Finals in the week beginning 30th June and the Semi Finals, including the 2 wood singles, in the week beginning 7th July.  We are also aiming for County Finals Day to be on the weekend of 19/20 July, subject to green confirmation.

In the meantime if you have any questions regarding all events then please do email me.
